Alpaca Installation =================== .. _downloads: https://optecinc.com/astronomy/downloads/focuslynx.htm System Requirements -------------------- - Windows 7SP1, 8.1 or 10 Anniversary Edition or higher - Linux: Most modern x64, armhf and aarch64 distributions. Tested on Raspberry Pi OS (Buster), Ubuntu 16.04+ and Fedora 33 - macOS 10.13+, tested on 10.15 Windows ------- 1. Review the System Requirements to verify that your system is capable of running the FocusLynx Alpaca driver. 2. Obtain the latest version of FocusLynx Alpaca installer from the Downloads_ page on the Optec website. 3. Double click on setup.exe to run the installer. .. Note:: If you get a permission denied error try running setup.exe as an administrator. 4. Follow the instructions in the installer to complete the installation. 5. Congratulations! Your FocusLynx Alpaca driver is installed and ready for configuring with your focuser system. Once the software is installed you can proceed to :doc:`Getting Started <gettingstarted>` Linux ----- 1. Review the System Requirements to verify that your system is capable of running the FocusLynx Alpaca driver. 2. Obtain the latest version of FocusLynx Alpaca AppImage from the Downloads_ page on the Optec website. .. Note:: Make sure you download the correct file for your system and OS. Optec offers x64, armhf (32 bit arm) and aarch64 (64 bit arm). Even though most Raspberry Pi's have aarch64 CPUs the default Raspberry Pi OS is 32 bit and requires the armhf driver. 3. Extract the AppImage from the tar.xz file. 4. Place the AppImage in a folder where you would like it. 5. Run the AppImage to start the software. .. Note:: If the software does not start try running the program from the terminal and note the output. You may have a missing library or dependency. Once the software is installed you can proceed to :doc:`Getting Started <gettingstarted>` macOS ----- 1. Review the System Requirements to verify that your system is capable of running the FocusLynx Alpaca driver. 2. Obtain the latest version of FocusLynx Alpaca macOS driver from the Downloads_ page on the Optec website. .. Note:: The macOS driver is compiled for Intel Macs. It should be able to run under Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs but this has not been tested. 3. Extract the Program from the zip file. 4. Drag the program to the Applications folder. 5. Run the Program to start the software. .. Note:: If macOS reports a security issue you may need to authorize the application. To do this press control and click the application.
